Job Summary
Manage day-to-day operations of the Neighborhood Development Area Grant at John Bowne High School, recruiting and enrolling 60 eligible participants for assessment, service planning, and case management. Conduct weekly group sessions and individual meetings to monitor student progress on attendance, academic performance, and internship participation while providing academic support through report card conferencing. Cultivate internship sites, oversee placement in paid work experiences, and arrange resources for families facing job development or food insecurity needs. Liaise with school administration, CBO partners, and city agencies to implement grant strategies and ensure program compliance with DYCD regulations. Provide task supervision to social work interns and support full-time staff dedicated to the NDA program.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Minimum of three (3) years experience providing assessment, service planning, case management, and/or intervention work with an adolescent population
- Minimum of three (3) years experience collaborating effectively with public schools and community based organizations to improve the outcomes of at-risk students
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working within or managing programs serving youth and families
- Significant experience with assets and needs analysis, community organizing, problem-solving, networking and developing relationships with private and public partners, program management and improving access to resources for students, parents, school staff and community members
- Excellent organizational, teamwork, verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment of work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
- Strong relationship-building and group facilitation capabilities, incorporating cross-cultural sensitivity
- Deep understanding of positive youth development, education learning standards and issues facing immigrant and first generation youth in the U.S.
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to take initiative
- Energized by the idea and process of creating and implementing new initiatives
- Highly organized, detail oriented and trustworthy
- Computer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages
- Experience with Google Drive (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, etc.)
- Willingness to work school hours as well as some weekends/evenings for parent/teacher conferences and school or agency events
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree, preferably in Social Work, Counseling, School Counseling, School Psychology, or a related field from an accredited university
- Experience already serving the school community in some capacity
- Bilingual
