Program Associate, Renewable Energy

Job Summary
Conduct administrative and programmatic support for renewable energy and climate planning projects, including grant proposal development, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Coordinate project meetings and events, managing logistics, agendas, and live webinars while ensuring diverse community participation. Provide research and analytical support through data collection, GIS analysis, and synthesis of findings into reports, case studies, and blog drafts. Develop presentation materials and resources for external partners, compile research results, and manage project timelines and deadlines. Work Monday through Friday with occasional nights or weekends, requiring two to three days in the Minneapolis office.
Required Qualifications
- Competency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- design or desktop publishing tools such as InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, or other design tools
- Ability to manage Zoom or Teams small group breakouts, instantaneous surveys, and similar meeting management
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify solutions to challenges by communicating clearly, taking initiative, and thinking creatively
- Ability to work for many different people, juggle multiple tasks in an organized way and manage up to ensure you are effective in your role
- Excellent time and deadline management, project management, and team relationship skills
- Commitment to the mission and goals of the Great Plains Institute
- passionate about equitably solving the climate challenge and about the potential for aggressive deployment of renewable energy and clean energy systems
- 1-3 years of paid or volunteer experience working with local or state governments, community organizations, renewable energy development, sustainability, or climate
- Experience with both local governments and sustainability or climate
- Bachelor's degree with environmental studies, sustainability, energy, or environmental justice
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
