Program Assistant (Emergency Shelter Admin Support) - Part-Time - Family Centre

Job Summary
Conduct reception duties by answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing service-users as the primary point of contact. Perform basic clerical tasks including data entry, record keeping, filing, inventory management, and submitting maintenance work orders. Maintain cleanliness of units, storage areas, and common spaces while providing hands-on operational support. Cover for the Full-Time Program Assistant during absences and assist with community visits for supplies or donations. Work 15 hours per weekend with rotating day and afternoon shifts in a high-energy environment. Adhere to Health and Safety protocols and communicate professionally to preserve client dignity.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Social Services or a related field
- Minimum 1-year related experience in community outreach or emergency shelter, and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in Social Services or a related field
- Have knowledge of and have experience working with a range of issues impacting families including homelessness, violence against women and children, immigration, poverty, mental illness and substance use
- Commitment to and experience working within a person-centered, trauma-informed, harm reduction and housing first framework
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, verbal and written communication, time management and organization, and ability to prioritize workload
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified
- A valid G license

- Experience with HIFIS & EMHware
- Fluency in a 2nd language
