Program Assistant

Job Summary

Answer incoming telephone calls, process messages, and direct callers and visitors to appropriate personnel while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. Assist clients with registration and consent paperwork, verify insurance, collect fees, and check in arriving patients for intake. Manage appointments, coordinate medication refills with pharmacies, and monitor building access for visitors and delivery persons. Maintain accurate client information, route mail and shipments, and manage office supplies and equipment. Assist with urinalysis tests, print lab results, and distribute packets. Participate in staff meetings and adapt to changes in safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three years' related experience
  • Knowledge of patient registration and front office responsibilities in a healthcare setting
  • A valid driver's license
  • BLS/CPR and AED certifications
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background screening/investigation
  • Pre-employment drug screen
  • Personal and professional reference checks and employment verification
  • Federal, state, and/or tribal criminal history and sanction checks, including fingerprint verification
  • Has not been found guilty of, charged with, received a deferred sentence, received a conditional discharge of, or entered a plea of not contest to, or entered a plea of guilty to any one felony or misdemeanor crimes of violence, sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, or sexual contact; prostitution; or crimes committed against person(s) or children
  • Adhere to CIT's established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Overnight travel and/or evening and/or weekend work may occasionally be required

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Experience working within American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities
