Job Summary
Program Area Leader – Recreation for Canada Summer Jobs in Vernon, BC. Plans and implements activities and events for recreation programs, oversees day-to-day program operations to ensure facilities, equipment, guidelines, and licensing requirements are met, and promotes program awareness at community events. Collaborates with community service providers, coordinates referrals, and represents the organization externally. Maintains records and produces reports. Requires a diploma/certificate and/or relevant experience with children in recreation or related fields, valid First Aid, 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain, Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain, and successful agency screening including a Criminal Record Check. Must be at least 19 years old; position runs eight weeks (June 30 – August 25, 2026), 35 hours/week, in Vernon, BC; 19.82 per hour. Open to all applicants; union membership required.
Required Qualifications
- A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services
- Valid First Aid certificate
- 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
- Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
- Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
- Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations
- Union membership required
