Professional Writer - IBL (Contract Funded Through June 2027)

Job Summary

Review and analyze pre-experiment documentation to establish baseline knowledge before event execution. Develop and standardize reporting templates, then consolidate and synthesize raw data following IBL experiments. Attend all IBL-related events to produce detailed executive summaries covering topics, attendees, BLUF, due-outs, and timelines. Draft, format, and edit technical documents, reports, and briefings while translating complex concepts into clear, user-friendly language. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy, evaluate comments, and resolve disputes. Manage overlapping, multi-week reporting lifecycles and input experimental findings into required systems of record. This role supports the U.S. Army Transformation and training Command's Intelligence Battle Lab through June 2027.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–7+ years of experience in professional, technical, or military writing
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience producing structured documents, reports, or training materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Active Secret Clearance Required
  • Approximately 5% travel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Army, or intelligence community (IC) organizations
  • Familiarity with Army doctrine, intelligence processes, or training development (e.g., TRADOC standards)
  • Experience with instructional design or course development
  • Knowledge of style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago, or Army-specific formats)
  • Experience with content management systems or collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint)
