Professional Tutor - Writing Center

Job Summary
Facilitate one-on-one and small group instruction to assist students with various stages of the writing process across disciplines. Mentor and assist students and peer writing tutors while integrating effective strategies to maximize academic progress. Provide outstanding customer service by anticipating and exceeding the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Maintain records, manage the professional appearance of the Writing Center area, and participate in training sessions and meetings. Perform administrative responsibilities and leadership duties as requested by the supervisor. Work an irregular schedule including evenings, weekends, and peak times. Bachelor's degree required with a Master's preferred.

- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Experience with TracCloud
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to initiate work with students independently
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized systems
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products and Zoom
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of various backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, which transcend audiences
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well with students, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
- Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to mission of the University
