Job Summary
Deliver high-quality one-on-one academic tutoring in STEM subjects ranging from math through calculus and chemistry, biology, and physics up to AP level. Craft personalized education plans for each student, master PrepMatters instructional methods, and tailor proprietary materials to individual needs. Build student confidence by addressing academic weaknesses, study skills, and test-related stress. Serve as the primary point of contact for families, providing expert feedback, setting realistic goals, and entering session notes into the proprietary CRM tool. Maintain professional communication standards while proactively scheduling ad hoc conferences. Requires a bachelor's degree, at least two years of tutoring experience, and availability of 10 hours weekly including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of tutoring experience in one or more academic subjects
- A true appreciation for working with kids
- Willingness to make at least 10 hours/week available, including at least some weekend time
- The ability to reliably and independently manage client scheduling and email correspondence
- The skills required to score well on a qualifying test consisting of relevant subject matter
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated mastery of subject matter and the ability to model the study habits required for success at academically rigorous universities
- Academic expertise (up to the AP level) in additional subjects of science, calculus, history, economics, computer science, or a foreign language
- Background from a rigorous academic program
- Familiarity with the culture of highly competitive academic institutions
- Professional experience in a high-volume tutoring environment
- A working knowledge of local public and independent schools
