Job Summary
Professional Standards Officer based in Christchurch (Southland Standards Committee) Part-time 25 hours per week. Supports integrity of the legal profession by processing complaints under Part 7 of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006. Provides high-quality advice, investigation, and secretariat support to Standards Committees, members of the profession, and the public. Requires a tertiary qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Laws) with 3 years’ legal or regulatory experience or equivalent investigations/complaints handling experience. Strong written and oral communication, judgement, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy. Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently. Hybrid work arrangement between the office and home; NZ residency or valid NZ work visa preferred.
Required Qualifications

- 3 years’ legal or regulatory experience or equivalent investigations and complaints handling experience.
