Professional Staff Nurse, ONC (RN) - Radiation Oncology

Job Summary

Demonstrate adult learning principles by teaching patients, families, students, and new staff to guide them through care transitions and home discharge. Formulate daily goals and holistic plans of care using the nursing process to address clinical, social, safety, and spiritual needs while maintaining comprehensive documentation. Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts by identifying opportunities, utilizing evidence-based practice, and influencing multidisciplinary rounds. Maintain productive relationships with physicians, providers, and colleagues while modeling safe work hours, time management, and healthy lifestyle balance. Schedule is Monday through Friday daylight hours only; no evenings, weekends, or holidays. Requires current Pennsylvania RN licensure, CPR/BLS certification, and minimum six months of experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Act 34
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Minimum 6 months experience
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients
  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • UPMC approved national certification preferred
  • BSN preferred
