Job Summary
Deliver on-farm advanced reproductive services for bovine breeding programs, including embryo transfer (ET), ovum pickup (OPU), and ultrasonography. Perform embryo transfer, IVF-related procedures, and ultrasound-guided evaluations; design, implement, and review superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients; assess pregnancy status and fetal viability via ultrasonography; conduct rectal palpations; ensure rigorous biosecurity and collaborate with clients to support their genetic goals. Training provided at the Sioux Center, IA facility prior to deployment. Role requires extensive travel across the west coast (California, Oregon, Washington); ideal candidate located in California, with consideration for Oregon or southern Washington. Strong communication and hands-on technical skills in bovine reproduction are essential. Licensure to practice veterinary medicine and USDA APHIS accreditation are required or obtainable in a timely manner; AETA certification or willingness to obtain. Educational path includes DVM or equivalent for Veterinarian, or Master’s/Ph.D. for Technician roles.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from a US accredited institution
- Full current accreditation with the USDA – APHIS
- Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in applicable states, or the ability to obtain licensure in a timely manner
- Certification with the American Embryo Transfer Association (AETA), or the ability and willingness to obtain certification
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Bovine Reproduction, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a closely related field (for Technician)
- Equivalent practical experience in lieu of advanced degree may be considered for exceptional candidates
