Job Summary
The Professional Math Tutor (PMT) will provide tutorial guidance to students ensuring academic success, particularly in math courses MTH 100, 106, 110, Calculus, Statistics, and Physics. Responsibilities include individual and group tutoring sessions, working with MTH instructors for lesson clarity, and demonstrating analytical math skills. The PMT will also assist students with campus resources, host workshops, maintain student records, and participate in professional development activities. Candidates must possess an Associate degree in a related field and have experience in higher education tutoring.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mathematics, Biology, Science or related field
- One year of experience working with students in a Higher Education setting
- Knowledgeable with FERPA and college policies
- Positive attitude and responsible demeanor
- Organizational skills to plan and host workshops
- Independent decision making and problem-solving abilities
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Biology, Science or related field.
- Familiarity with Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS)
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office including Excel, Pivot Tables
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective teaching and tutoring strategies knowledge
