Job Summary
Professional Land Surveyor to lead the Surveying & Mapping Department in Southern California, directing daily operations, mentoring staff, and delivering ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary retracements, and topographic mapping under the California Subdivision Map Act. Drives business development for small-site and large-scale developments, champions advanced surveying technologies (high-precision GPS, total stations, 3D scanning), and manages budgets, scopes, and timelines for construction staking and mapping packages. Requires licensure as a CA PLS, a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience, 10+ years of surveying experience in Southern California, 5+ years in supervisory roles, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software. Preferred: expert knowledge of the Subdivision Map Act, 3D laser scanning/UAV workflows, and strong client-facing communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- 10+ years of land surveying experience (boundary, topographic, and construction) within the Southern California market
- 5+ years of direct supervisory or departmental management experience
- Advanced command of AutoCAD Civil 3D and surveying calculation software
