Job Summary
Professional Land Surveyor sought in Billings, MT to perform field and office duties for land surveying projects. Responsibilities include executing land surveys to establish legal boundaries, researching historical maps and land records, preparing and maintaining data, plots, documents, legal descriptions, sketches, maps, and reports; recording survey results with coordinates, elevations, and other features; interpreting data to determine shapes and positions; utilizing GPS, total stations, UAVs, and scanners to collect data and create reports/maps; collaborating with engineering staff and clients; managing survey equipment inventory and repairs; maintaining knowledge of federal/state/local surveying laws; supervising survey technicians and coordinating data collection; operating a motor vehicle and possessing a valid driver’s license; performing additional administrative tasks as needed. Required education includes a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering and Montana licensure or ability to obtain within six months; strong communication, mathematical, and technical skills; proficiency with Trimble, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD Civil 3D; ability to travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering preferred
- Professional licensure as a Land Surveyor in the State of Montana or ability to become licensed in Montana within six months of hire
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with Trimble, Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of ALTA/NSPS surveys and surveying laws (federal/state)
- Ability to supervise survey technician project work and coordinate data collection
