Job Summary

Conduct topographic and boundary surveys, prepare legal descriptions, and support mapping and 3D scanning to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects. Perform field data collection including monument recovery and construction layout, while managing control network planning and point cloud extractions. Lead small projects independently, conduct quality control of deliverables, and collaborate with technical disciplines to resolve issues and meet client standards. Maintain equipment, manage project budgets and schedules, and communicate frequently with clients. Requires a Professional Land Surveyor license, four years of experience, and ability to work in diverse environments from urban to remote sites.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience
  • PLS required
  • valid driver's license
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Able to cut brush using chain saw or machete
  • Able to dig with shovel or digging bars, use a jack hammer and sledgehammer, and drive in stakes and rebar (monuments)
  • Able to walk and hike through rough terrain, snow, and ice
  • Able to routinely lift and carry between 30 and 50 pounds
  • May need to work at remote sites
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Developing experience with Market Sector Software
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center
  • Experience with Trimble Access
  • Experience with CAD processing software
  • Experience with Point Cloud extraction software
  • Substantial understanding of field surveying equipment use, care and storage
  • Ability to perform moderately complex tasks independently
  • Ability to effectively divide projects into individual tasks
  • Ability to lead effort on small projects
  • Ability to conduct quality control of basic deliverables
  • Team player, able to follow on large, complex projects and lead a small team on simple tasks
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of other technical disciplines and take responsibility for their results
  • Ability to produce clear and concise field notes
  • Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance checks
  • Ability to collect topographic data
  • Ability to perform monument field recovery
  • Ability to perform basic boundary resolutions
  • Ability to perform basic construction calculations
  • Ability to perform control network planning
  • Ability to perform point cloud extractions
  • Ability to research public records
  • Ability to perform basic construction layout

  • Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Ability to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort

  • Ability to assist with budget creation on simple projects
  • Understanding and employment of ALTA surveys
  • Understanding and employment of local platting, surveying standards
  • Understanding and employment of ASPRS
  • Understanding and employment of BLM cadastral surveys
  • Ability to perform frequent client communications
  • Ability to resolve issues on small projects
  • Ability to attend client meetings
  • Ability to consistently use situationally appropriate communication tools (e.g., email versus phone versus in person)
  • Ability to perform moderate to advanced levels of professional services
  • Ability to operate with a moderate level of autonomy
  • Ability to assist with some assistant project management tasks
  • Ability to oversee team operations and the daily workflow of the team
  • Ability to organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
  • Ability to recruit and hire new employees
  • Ability to implement training for new hires and identify training opportunities for current staff
  • Ability to communicate information from leadership to employees and vice versa
  • Ability to monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Ability to set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision and communicate them to employees
  • Ability to provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Ability to decide on reward and promotion based on performance
