Job Summary
Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design for heavy industrial projects, including mining and production facilities. Acts as technical leader and client partner, guiding complex design efforts and coordinating with civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams. Responsibilities include designing structural systems (steel framing, cast-in-place and precast concrete structures, foundations, equipment supports, elevated platforms), performing and reviewing structural analyses, calculations, and modeling, evaluating existing structures for renovation or retrofit, preparing drawings and specifications, mentoring early-career engineers, supporting construction administration and site visits, and contributing to client interactions and proposal development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
- 8+ years of structural design experience in heavy industrial or mining environments
- Strong experience with structural analysis and design of steel and concrete systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical design efforts while building strong client relationships
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary industrial or facility projects
- Strong communication skills and interest in mentoring others
- Ability to travel occasionally (generally up to ~20%)
- Valid driver’s license
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit preferred; experience with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, RAM, or similar) preferred
- Previous design experience in mining or industrial facilities
