Job Summary

Develop and coordinate educational programs and materials specific to nursing and patient care service areas. Facilitate clinical excellence through active participation in orientation, training, and ongoing staff development. Evaluate clinical practice for all personnel levels and serve as a resource for new policies, procedures, and healthcare information. Collaborate with community healthcare programs to include high school programs and college/university-level student clinical placements. Implement Evidence-Based Practice initiatives while keeping abreast of current research in nursing practice and care delivery. Adjust working hours and availability as needed to meet the educational needs of the staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi
  • Five (5) years' clinical nursing experience appropriate for area of specialty
  • Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
  • BCLS instructor certification
  • ACLS certification and instructor certification
  • PALS certification and instructor certification
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
  • Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
  • Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations
  • Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
  • Must be able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • Must be able to make fine discriminations in sound
  • Must have the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
  • Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue
  • Must possess appropriate level of de-escalation training

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience or evidence of teaching ability
  • Obtain and maintain certification from national organizations specific to the nursing division in which he/she provides service
