Job Summary
Design color schemes and palettes for homeowners while providing superior customer service and maintaining outstanding phone and email etiquette. Make educated connections with customers based on their conversations and utilize Dunn-Edwards sales aids, including Adobe Photoshop renderings and Specification Guides. Assist with processing orders over the telephone and in-person, operate the cash register, and perform store maintenance and housekeeping duties. Train store sales associates on color design techniques and provide feedback to management on department operations and training needs. Maintain appointment schedules and logs for in-store consultations, ensuring proper coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Interior Design graduates or students currently enrolled in a degree program
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret professional publications
- Ability to produce reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups
- Ability to legally drive own vehicle to assigned business units and various meetings and events
- Must be in-view and readily available to assist customers on the sales floor
- Must be professional and have a positive attitude at all times
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Ability to multi-task in a retail setting and meet deadlines when necessary
- Must be able to offer feedback to management regarding Color Advisor issues, customer service issues, and offer suggestions on training needs for store employees
- Must be capable and willing of performing specifically assigned job duties at, or below current classification including: processing orders over telephone and in-person, operating cash register and carrying out paint to customer vehicle
- Ability to understand different lighting sources and how they relate to change in color
- Ability to develop product knowledge by utilizing corporate training tools, pamphlets and attending training classes to communicate effectively with the customer
- Must be able to understand different lighting sources and how they relate to change in color
- Opening shifts may start as early as 5:00 am
- Closing shifts may end as late as 6:30 pm
- Workdays vary depending on location; some are open 7 days per week
- Lifting of items, such as sundries or containers of paint weighting from 5 to 75 pounds
- Use of electronic equipment including, but not limited to computers, point of sale devices, communication devices
- Driving a large delivery truck/vehicle
- Climbing ladders
- Walking on uneven surfaces, e.g., active construction sites
- Interactions with customers, both face-to-face and on the telephone
- Interaction with customers relating to color
- Standing for long periods of time
- Use of a respirator
