Job Summary
Conduct in-store consultations to design color schemes and palettes for homeowners, utilizing Dunn-Edwards sales aids and Adobe Photoshop renderings. Deliver educated advice based on customer conversations while maintaining professional phone and email etiquette. Process orders via telephone and in-person, operate the cash register, and perform assigned duties including carrying paint to customer vehicles. Maintain store housekeeping standards, manage appointment schedules, and train sales associates on color design techniques. Work independently in a retail setting with shifts starting as early as 5:00 am and closing as late as 6:30 pm, with some locations open seven days a week.
Required Qualifications
- Interior Design graduates or students currently enrolled in a degree program
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret professional publications
- Ability to produce reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups
- Ability to legally drive own vehicle to assigned business units and various meetings and events
- Must be in-view and readily available to assist customers on the sales floor
- Must be professional and have a positive attitude at all times
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Ability to multi-task in a retail setting and meet deadlines when necessary
- Opening shifts may start as early as 5:00 am
- Closing shifts may end as late as 6:30 pm
- Workdays vary depending on location; some are open 7 days per week
- Lifting of items, such as sundries or containers of paint weighting from 5 to 75 pounds
- Use of electronic equipment including, but not limited to computers, point of sale devices, communication devices
- Driving a large delivery truck/vehicle
- Climbing ladders
- Walking on uneven surfaces, e.g., active construction sites
- Interactions with customers, both face-to-face and on the telephone
- Interaction with customers relating to color
- Standing for long periods of time
- Use of a respirator
