Job Summary
Production Welder performs TIG welding and brazing on compressors, generators, and related components, reading blueprints and weld symbols to ensure precise fabrication and assembly. Responsible for setting up TIG welding equipment, selecting filler materials and shielding gases, inspecting welds for quality and conformance, and maintaining welding tools and work areas. Must follow safety policies, use PPE, and may participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives. Requires welding certification and 1 year of TIG experience, ability to read structural drawings and manuals, pass respirator and pulmonary tests, and possess US citizenship or equivalent with potential to obtain DOD clearance. Location: Sparks, NV. Certifications and ability to meet Mil-Std-278 welding/brazing standards are required.
Required Qualifications
- Welding Certification from technical school plus 1 year of hands-on TIG welding
- Ability to Achieve and maintain certification per Mil-Std-278 welding and brazing standards
- Ability to read and understand structural drawing, schematics and operating manuals
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test
- Ability to perform calculations such as percentages, ratios and fractions
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn manufacturing systems and software
- Ability to understand the use and application of air and gas compressors and generators and basic manufacturing tooling and equipment
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15
- May require the ability to obtain DOD security clearance
