Job Summary
Operate A-camera on all studio productions and field shoots, managing lighting, audio capture, and shot composition for City Council sessions, committee hearings, and mayoral press briefings. Serve as primary editor by ingesting, transcoding, and editing weekly episodes to broadcast-ready delivery, while preparing, maintaining, and transporting production equipment including cameras, lenses, and wireless microphones. Manage media workflows for camera cards and field drives, execute caption-ready deliverables, and support LiveU field streaming operations. Act as backup TD/playout operator for master control, assisting with studio setup, cabling, and troubleshooting as assigned. Requires expert camera operation proficiency, professional editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and a valid driver's license preferred for equipment transport.
Required Qualifications
- Expert camera operation across studio (pedestal/tripod) and field (handheld/gimbal) environments
- Strong lighting and composition fundamentals
- Professional editing proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Multicam workflows
- Audio sweetening basics
- Broadcast-legal delivery
- Working knowledge of broadcast signal standards (SDI, genlock, 1080p59.94)
- Aptitude to cross-train on master control playout (TelVue HyperCaster)
- Aptitude to cross-train on switcher operation
- Disciplined media management habits — zero-loss card and drive workflows
- Calm, reliable presence during live government broadcasts
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in film/TV production, media technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional camera operation experience
- Minimum 2 years of professional editing experience
- Reel demonstrating both camera and editing work
- Valid driver's license
- City of Philadelphia resident within six months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Live event, government meeting, or news production experience
- Engineering redundancy for live Council sessions and other broadcasts
