Job Summary

Approve mechanical drawings and design updates within delegated authority, initiating ECRs/ECOs to define corrective actions for build issues. Specify materials, finishes, and critical tolerances for mechanical components while serving as primary engineering support for manufacturing fit, form, function, and drawing discrepancies. Lead root cause analysis for recurring build problems and drive timely resolution of shop floor escalations to maintain production schedules. Create and update 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for mechanical assemblies, ensuring designs meet DFM/DFS principles and integrate with electrical systems. Collaborate with electrical engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve issues, participate in design reviews, and support continuous improvement through standardization and cost reduction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering or production support
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar) and 2D drawings
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments (issue resolution, root cause analysis)
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal design, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies
  • Electro-mechanical system experience (integration of mechanical and electrical components)

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to critical power equipment (switchgear, PDU, RPP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ECN/ECO processes and PDM systems
  • Knowledge of UL requirements, thermal considerations, and enclosure design constraints
