Job Summary
Production Supervisor located in Columbia, SC, reporting to the Production Manager, responsible for directing manufacturing operations on a shift or group of production lines to achieve volume, quality, and cost goals. Typical day includes managing a team of professionals, reviewing performance, troubleshooting operational issues, coaching operators, evaluating plant improvements with engineers, providing technical/operational guidance, ensuring training and certification of personnel, prioritizing production schedules, participating in cost improvement projects, and assisting in department budgeting while maintaining safety and policy compliance. Demonstrates leadership, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer requirements and site objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience related to production and manufacturing
- 3-6 years of manufacturing experience
- leadership experience directing a team and motivating to meet production goals
- ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- ability to collect data, establish facts, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and draw valid conclusions
- demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions
- involves training and coaching personnel and leading teams
- participates in creating functional processes or technologies
- able to manage budgets and department expenses
- focus on safety and compliance with policies and procedures
- experience with project proposals and process improvements
- preference for strong communication and collaborative skills
- ability to motivate and develop staff to achieve performance goals
