Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, loaders, and off-road trucks to move construction materials and earth safely and efficiently. Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform daily inspections, check fluids, and submit logs and reports. Adhere to all safety guidelines, report incidents immediately, and stay connected via company radio. Organize assigned projects, meet site objectives through daily directives, and provide customer service to internal and external clients. Work flexible hours including nights and weekends during the busy spring and early summer season.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years' experience of heavy equipment
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
- Prior experience with hand tools
- Flexible to work various hours during busy season (spring through early summer)
- Able to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
- Good communication and listening skills
- Friendly and positive demeanor with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- Demonstrating initiative with regards to responsibilities
- Ability to ambulate around the site
- Enthusiastic, with a drive for results
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
- Willingness to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to sit, stand, type, use personal computer, two-way radio, and telephone
Desired Qualifications
- Capable of operating & successfully passing the operator proficient certification on at least 1 of the following: Front End Loader, Excavator, Dozer, Off Road Truck
- Must be familiar with and adhere to service requirements, equipment and operator limitations and safe operating procedures
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and appearance of equipment interior and exterior
- Ability to perform general maintenance such as greasing, fluid and fuel checking, filling and washing of equipment exterior daily
- Ability to complete and submit daily logs & reports (inspection sheet, labor log, production form, equipment hours, etc.)
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required by R & M
- Ability to stay connected and use company radio for business appropriate use
- Knowledge regarding the composition and application of the product line
- Ability to assess customer needs, promote and answer questions regarding the variety of products available to customers
- Ability to provide useful and applicable solutions
- Ability to organize and execute various projects as assigned
- Ability to meet site objectives by following daily and weekly directives as set by site supervisor
- Ability to follow all Kurtz Bros., Inc. safety guidelines, including notification and reporting of any safety issues or concerns
- Ability to immediately report any safety accident/incident or damage
- Ability to maintain a high-level of customer service to internal and external customers
