Job Summary
The Production Patternmaker is responsible for creating and refining production patterns for soft dresses and blouses, ensuring exceptional fit and quality across all sizes. Key responsibilities include interpreting design sketches, leading fit sessions, collaborating with design and production teams, and maintaining digital pattern libraries. Candidates should have extensive experience in patternmaking, a deep understanding of garment construction, and proficiency in digital patternmaking software. The ideal candidate will also possess strong communication skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional patternmaking experience with a strong focus on soft dresses
- Expert-level understanding of draping, flat patternmaking, and hybrid techniques
- Strong knowledge of woven fabrics, silks, chiffons, satins, jerseys, and other soft or fluid materials
- Deep understanding of garment construction, fit standards, and production requirements
- Proficient in digital patternmaking software (e.g., Gerber)
- Experience working with overseas factories and managing production corrections
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in luxury or contemporary womenswear
- Knowledge of bias-cut garments and draped silhouettes
- Experience working with complex constructions, linings, and specialty finishes
- Familiarity with size grading standards for international markets
