Job Summary
Control iron quality and operate equipment in the Melt Department, including cupolas, furnaces, and converters. Remove gates and risers from castings using wedges or hammers, transport ladles between furnaces, and pour molten metal into molds while tracking temperature and ladle data. Exhibit outstanding safety practices through daily housekeeping and extend courtesy to all employees. Secure proper tools, communicate solutions to operational problems, and approach assignments with a positive team mindset. Ability to lift 75 pounds and use measuring instruments required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to at least 75 pounds
- Some judgment to stay in sync with instructions, follow methods, make minor decisions
- Job may require decimals and fractions, drawings and formulas, measuring instruments and a variety of hand tools
