Job Summary
Set up the Prime Coater, measure painting parameters including wet film thickness, viscosity, and temperature, and adjust the machine following QC Lab Tech direction. Perform roll changes, clean painting equipment, and move paint drums while documenting paint usage and entering data into Oracle. Continuously monitor wet film appearance to detect defects early, inspect incoming strip condition, and identify coating issues like blistering or flow lines. Maintain paint filtration systems and coordinate with the lab on solvent additions to target viscosity. Perform required checks including gloss readings and visual inspections, and communicate daily with Production and Quality Control to resolve problems. Work from shop orders and schedules, maintaining a clean work area while complying with safety protocols and chemical handling requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One year of operating experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment
- The employee will be required to be capable of lifting a minimum weight of 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Metals, coating, roll forming or industrial manufacturing experience
- Basic computer skills
- Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Good communication skills
- Mobile equipment operations skills
- Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as schedules, SOPs, work rules, etc.
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
