Job Summary
Direct and oversee the production department at WHSV, ensuring every newscast and station production meets high standards for quality and innovation. Perform duties of a Technical Media Producer by directing live and pre-recorded productions with a digital-first mindset. Monitor station on-air signals, transmitters, and FCC logs to guarantee a reliable broadcast experience. Manage daily programming ingestion, commercial breaks for live sporting events, and various web channel elements. Foster a collaborative, high-energy environment while maintaining flexibility to support the team on any shift. Work Monday through Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) with potential on-call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Technical expertise in live production and master control operations
- Leadership ability to inspire a team, manage schedules, and step in whenever needed
- Digital-first mindset to ensure content looks great on every platform
- Reliability and proactivity for a 24/7 news cycle
- Attention to detail for FCC logs, transmitter readings, and timing live breaks
- Flexibility to work shifts beyond Monday-Friday to support the team
- Collaborative spirit valuing empathy and humor
- Deep understanding of Ross Overdrive automation
- Deep understanding of Ross production video switcher
- Deep understanding of MCR/Harris automation
- Deep understanding of Platinum House routing system
- Proficiency with VizRT graphics
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
- Proficiency with ENPS
- Proficiency with Edius editing software
- Ability to direct and oversee the production department
- Ability to perform duties of a Technical Media Producer (TMP)
- Ability to monitor station on-air signals, transmitters, and FCC logs
- Ability to manage the ingestion of daily programming and commercials
- Ability to run local commercial breaks for live sporting events
- Ability to direct elements for the web channel
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
