Job Summary
Manage manufacturing operations for a designated value stream, leading the team to meet daily output targets, reduce process times, and minimize inventory levels. Ensure orders are pulled and shipped per plant schedules while maintaining FIFO and minimizing shipping discrepancies. Investigate cycle losses, implement corrective actions, and partner with Operational Excellence to establish value stream priorities aligned with future state strategy. Lead and mentor approximately 90 employees, including supervisors and hourly workers, driving execution of business goals using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Oversee problem resolution for operational and mechanical issues, evaluate team member performance, and ensure compliance with Corporate Safety, OSHA, and EPA standards. Assist in budget creation and coordinate with Supply Chain, QA, and Planning to address parts, inventory, and quality issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing related field
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3-5 years experience in low volume/high mix, engineered and built to order manufacturing environment
- Extensive knowledge and leadership in the principles and practice of Lean, Six Sigma, 5P and/or other continuous improvement models
- Proven record of initiative, problem solving and the ability to recognize and implement improvements
- Experience working with customized engineered products
- Strong team player
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and across departments and the company to support organization strategies
- Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the performance of all assigned responsibilities
- Ability to teach others, mentor and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Superior coaching and communication skills
- Willingness to work overtime as needed (including possible weekends as production needs dictate)
