Job Summary
Manage all aspects of the manufacturing department operations across multiple shifts, including staffing, procurement, maintenance, production planning, batchmaking, packaging, quality control, and shipping. Direct daily activities to ensure consistent product quality, enforce safety and environmental programs, and drive continuous improvement using 5S, Lean, and Continuous Improvement methodologies. Coordinate manufacturing and maintenance efforts to support the production process while controlling costs and optimizing plant performance against key metrics. Lead a team of 2-4 direct reports and 30-120 indirect reports, coaching staff on growth and resolving conflicts to maintain a transparent, collaborative culture. Evaluate staffing levels, shift schedules, and overtime requirements to meet production demand, acting as a decision-maker to troubleshoot issues and implement efficiency improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous production or plant manager experience
- 6+ years' experience in this capacity, leading manufacturing activities
- The ability to work in a matrixed organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to handle employee relations issues and facilitate conflict resolution
- Establish a strong working partnership with HR
