Production Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and predictive diagnostics on production equipment. Develop and maintain calibration schedules for tools and machinery while managing workload as a hands-on team player. Provide day-to-day supervision, training, and coaching to associates, resolving technical machine problems and conducting root cause analysis. Plan and oversee equipment rebuilds, line moves, installations, and setups, ensuring compliance with OSHA, FDA, and food safety protocols. Gather performance metrics and maintain department records and inventories to support equipment upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) plus years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Five (5) plus years of maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing setting
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must provide own tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco) necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental and food safety regulations
  • Good computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Extensive knowledge and skill with a multi-meter, infrared thermometer, and megohmmeter
  • Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, and processes
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both alone and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work orders in a fluid and dynamic environment
  • Ability concisely report and escalate equipment repair statuses and timeframes
  • Must have experience using a CMMS
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be available for evenings, nights, holidays
  • Must be available for on-call
  • Must be able to lift heavy items
  • Must have excellent hand and finger dexterity
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach
  • Must be able to push/pull
  • Must be able to lift /carry
  • Must be able to grasp tools
  • Must be able to perform Repetitive motion: wrenches and hand tools
  • Must be able to operate various pieces of equipment
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work in wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions
  • Must be able to work with moving mechanical parts
  • Must be able to work with high, precarious places
  • Must be able to work with fumes or airborne particles
  • Must be able to work in noise level that is usually moderate
  • Must be able to work in food processing temperatures of <=38 degrees F

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong preventive maintenance development experience, familiarity with reliability centered maintenance principles
  • Experience working in a food processing environment and familiar with USDA, FDA, and SQF policies and procedures
  • Is trained in the use of condition diagnostic techniques including vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, and thermographic testing
  • Two-year technical degree
  • Formal training in equipment maintenance repair, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment
  • Moderate knowledge in PLC, VFD/VSD, and relay logic
  • Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
