Job Summary
Ensure equipment reliability and maximize line performance by overseeing preventive maintenance and managing maintenance resources within a food manufacturing environment. Provide training, coaching, and support to operational teams to ensure safe, efficient, and effective machine operation while identifying skills gaps. Proactively plan maintenance activities, analyze performance data to reduce downtime, and implement corrective actions to improve line reliability. Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize line performance while maintaining compliance with food safety and health standards. Participate in an on-call rota once fully trained. Required Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of mechanical or electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment, preferably within a food and/or FMCG production environment
- A strong understanding of production environments, production line process flows and machinery
- The ability to proactively plan preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations and the company's maintenance strategy
- Training and coaching skills to develop engineers and operational teams in effective machine operation, maintenance and fault prevention
- A commitment to people development, supporting the Production Line Manager in identifying skills gaps and development opportunities
- A continuous improvement mindset, using production and equipment performance data to identify trends, reduce downtime, improve reliability and implement sustainable corrective actions
- A collaborative approach, working alongside key operational and functional stakeholders to optimise line performance, whilst remaining compliant with food safety and health and safety requirements
- The ability to manage maintenance resources to ensure availability whilst maintaining budget control
- Good computer literacy and experience of using maintenance or production systems
- Articulate in verbal and written communication appropriate to your audience
- Able to actively listen and draw conclusions from discussions
- Able to see the detail and present the root cause of problems, errors and process breakdown
- Resilient and confident when faced with technical challenges, operational pressures and competing priorities
- Analytical in approach, using data, observations and performance indicators to identify issues and develop practical solutions
- Enjoys working both collaboratively and autonomously using initiative to drive results which enhance the product and brand
- Leads by example and takes pride in developing the skills, confidence and knowledge of colleagues through training, coaching and support
Desired Qualifications
- A Level 3 or equivalent qualification in an engineering related subject (Mechanics, Electrics etc.)
