Production Line Attendant - 2nd Shift - Sartori Whey

Job Summary

Operate packaging, processing, and palletizing equipment on Grated, Shred, Deli, Wedge, Wax, Box, and Clean and Sort production lines while loading raw materials, performing changeovers, and executing in-process quality checks. Remove materials from pallets and bags, feed ingredients based on formulas, and sanitize equipment using chemicals. Conduct housekeeping by sweeping and removing debris, inspect products for mold or foreign substances, and scan finished goods to track material movement. Maintain 5S standards, complete quality documentation, and operate pallet jacks and lot dating devices. Work Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, lifting cheese weighing up to 50 pounds and standing in refrigerated conditions ranging from 35-50 degrees. Comply with HACCP, GMP, and safety policies while supporting team training.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
  • Internally trained and certified to operate manual and powered pallet jacks
  • Must be able to lift and/or move blocks or wheels of cheese weighing 20 to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stack pallets weighing up to 60 pounds up to 5 feet high
  • Must be able to frequently place/carry bags of cheese weighing 5 to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 40lbs
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to read and comprehend work related documents to carry out work instructions
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively in a way that other Team Members will understand

  • Must be able to work around safeguarded machinery with rotating, mechanical parts and conveyor belts
  • Must be able to work with motorized pallet truck, hand dolly, stretch wrap machine, hand knives, hand tools, calculator, box tape machine, and Case Printer and data collection device, robotic palletizer, and metal detector
  • Must be able to wear safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection
  • Must be able to wear face shield, chemical resistant apron and steel toe shoes
  • Must be able to work with caustic and/or toxic chemicals used for sanitation and cleaning
  • Must be able to wear ear protection due to loud noise levels
  • Must be able to work with extreme, non-weather related cold as well as wet and/or humid conditions
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms

  • Must be able to set up, maintain, clean / sanitize equipment using cleaning/sanitizing chemicals
  • Must be able to operate packaging, processing, manual/powered pallet jacks, and lot dating equipment on converting lines
  • Must be able to remove finished pallets from packaging area
  • Must be able to maintain and sustain 5S standards on production lines
  • Must be able to track material movement using touch panel screen to collect data, control product flow through the process and correct process issues
  • Must be able to use a data collection device to scan finished goods and raw materials
  • Must be able to place finished packages into correct box
  • Must be able to inspect packaging for any defects
  • Must be able to comply with company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies
  • Must be able to report any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action
  • Must be able to support training of other Team Members
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe working habits
  • Must be able to remove raw materials from pallets, bags, boxes or totes
  • Must be able to feed raw materials in correct quantities, based on formulas and product specifications
  • Must be able to perform general housekeeping for the Converting department including sweeping, removing cardboard, garbage bags, and pallets from staging or process area(s)
  • Must be able to inspect cheese and materials for mold, dirt or foreign substance
  • Must be able to clean cheese with a knife or segregate cheese on a pallet for inspection and cleaning as needed
  • Must be able to fill cellulose, salt, and/or ingredient dispenser(s) to maintain supply for production
  • Must be able to cross-train on Grated, Shred, Deli, Wedge, Wax and Box and Clean and Sort Lines

Desired Qualifications

  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a converting facility
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions using units of weight measurement and counts
