Job Summary
Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, and alignment with Lifeway style and brand guidelines within agreed-upon deadlines. Verify biblical and factual accuracy, correlate copy across related materials, and escalate complex theological issues as needed. Proofread files for accuracy, convert writer files into InCopy stories, export PDFs for review, and perform quality assurance on electronic files. Coordinate updates and prepare recurring product features for leader guides, kids activity pages, leader packs, and CD Printables. Support contributors by maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with editors, designers, and cross-functional partners to meet deadlines. This full-time remote role includes occasional travel to Nashville for team gatherings and requires an active evangelical Christian church background.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in English, Communications, Publishing, or a related field with experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field with experience
- 1+ years of editorial, publishing, or technical production experience
- Demonstrated excellence in editing, proofreading, and attention to detail across grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, and digital production workflows
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, and formatting issues
- Clear written communication skills with ability to document edits, flag questions, and support smooth production handoffs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with editors, designers, and cross-functional production stakeholders
- Ability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area 2-4 times annually for team gatherings
- Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field
- Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.)
- Proficiency with InCopy
- Experience editing biblical, theological, or ministry-focused content
- Experience with podcasting, including scripts or recordings
- Hands-on experience with preschool or children's ministry, either volunteer or paid
- Familiarity with Chicago style guide
- Southern Baptist church background or familiarity with the SBC landscape
