Job Summary
Lead the Bin Room and provide night and weekend coverage while directing hourly employees and enforcing safety standards. Schedule and conduct daily Tool Box Meetings, counsel staff on training or corrective actions, and ensure adherence to Standardized Work and Standard Operating Procedures. Complete daily shift paperwork covering safety, quality, productivity, and work area logs. Account for all department equipment by performing and documenting daily checks. Transition from peer to boss through required training, including emotional intelligence and core content modules, while assisting Area Managers with timekeeping and disciplinary processes. This interim "Supervisor in Training" role reports to the Operations Manager with additional direction from the Plant Manager and Area Managers.
Required Qualifications
- Current experience in manufacturing
- Able to read, write, and speak English
- High school diploma
- Experience working in a union manufacturing plant
- Previous leadership experience
- Six Sigma or Lean training and/or certification
- Knowledge and experience of problem-solving and quality improvement methodologies
- UKG or other timekeeping systems
- Heavy equipment experience
- Mathematical and analytical skills
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Outstanding organization/administrative and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply concepts that are learned from training (classroom and on the job)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Critical thinking and good troubleshooting technique
- High energy, self-motivated, ability to be successful without direct supervision
- Regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to occasionally lift a minimum 50 lbs.
- Regularly lift a minimum 25 lbs. on a daily basis
- 51 to 150 lbs. with assistance of equipment on a daily to weekly basis
- Regular use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes
- Regular use of respirator
- Vision requirements; close vision
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
- Occasionally exposed to precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
- Noise level is minimal to loud
- Regularly is working in a dirty lead contaminated area and must wear a uniform and safety shoes in that area to prevent the tracking and / or possible lead contamination of other clean areas or outside or the regulated areas
