Job Summary
Produce and prepare catering orders for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Union South Kitchen under supervision, ensuring compliance with federal/state/campus food safety regulations. Work alongside full-time food service professionals and student workers, train and guide students, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and adapt to hot/cold kitchen environments. Primary duties include routine and non-routine food preparation, cook-to-order and specialty items, equipment and workspace sanitation, customer interaction, and collaboration with the culinary team to deliver a premier UW–Madison food venue. Schedule is Tuesdays–Saturdays, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, with potential adjustments to meet business needs.
Required Qualifications
- One year of previous kitchen or large batch cooking experience
- Demonstrated basic food safety knowledge
- Certifications: ServSafe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
