Production/ Broadcast Engineer - NBC Sports

Job Summary
Perform system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and associated computer systems. Conduct preventative maintenance on studio and control room equipment and assist Studio Operations with technical setup. Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions, install and update equipment and systems software, and repair and troubleshoot equipment to the module level. Manage projects, design systems, and assist with system integration and commissioning. Support all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs across multiple studios within the Stamford Sports facility, complying with computer security policies. This role requires a combination of maintenance and project management skills, with availability as part of a 24x7 schedule. Candidates must be willing to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and submit to a background investigation.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience
- Final candidates may be asked to complete a job-related skills assessment related to this position
- Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends
- Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to support a 24x7 production environment
- Willingness and ability to learn new production technologies
- Preferred experience in live production environments
- Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance
- Experience in system design, AutoCAD, and project management
- Understanding of wireless audio and communication technologies
- Experience with 1080P and 4K HDR production
- Comms Systems (RTS ADAM/Omneo) knowledge
- Experience with Avid Media Composer
- Experience with Avid Interplay
- Proficient in Chyron graphic systems
- Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to diplomatically engage with colleagues across various departments
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment
- Understanding of TCP/IP networks
- Knowledge of digital TV (HDSDI)
- Proficiency in software-driven broadcast video equipment
- Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under the pressures of live television
- Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems
- Understanding of the urgent needs of on-air sports and the ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

- Specific experience with: Sony cameras and switchers
- EVS Servers, IP Director, XSquare
- Evertz and Grass Valley routing
- RTS Intercom
- Calrec audio consoles
- Tektronix and Leader test and measurement systems
- Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 standards
- Experience with Comms Systems (RTS ADAM/Omneo)
- Proficient in Chyron graphic systems
