Production Assistant (Nursery)

Job Summary
Supervise farm and nursery operations by coordinating daily activities for workers, monitoring productivity, and providing hands-on support for blueberry harvesting, planting, pruning, and irrigation. Execute crop protection applications, conduct field checks for plant health and pests, and oversee propagation, watering, and pest control in the nursery. Maintain stock records, plant labelling, and inventory while assisting with seasonal worker onboarding and packing plants for export. Track harvest volumes, yields, and worker performance to support logistics between field and packing operations, ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and agricultural regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate VI, Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field
- Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office
- Minimum 2 years' relevant farm production experience
- Experience across farming activities from land preparation to harvesting
- Solid understanding of crop production, harvesting techniques, and farm operations
- Basic knowledge of irrigation, pest control, and soil management
- Strong problem-solving and organisational ability
- Ability to monitor and report farm conditions
- Ability to supervise small teams and allocate tasks effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable to changing weather and peak production periods
- Detail-oriented with a results-driven mindset
- Ability to work under pressure
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to soft fruit / low chill varieties (advantageous)
