Job Summary
Fabricate subassemblies and perform integration of subassemblies with electrical, optical, and mechanical components for production units. Independently follow detailed, pre-approved work instructions to test and record data in Travelers. Support requests for parts and materials while ensuring tools and equipment remain within calibration and expiration dates. Maintain comprehensive documentation of assembly processes, testing results, and modifications. Inspect products and components for defects using calipers, gauges, and testing equipment. Collaborate with engineers and designers to provide feedback on design improvements and manufacturing processes. Perform other duties as assigned. This role involves working in a Cleanroom environment (ISO Class 7) with up to 25% local travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience
- Secondary/Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with 2 years of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to use hands in a skillful, coordinated way to grasp and manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions or test procedures
- Must be a US Citizen
- Up to 25% travel
- Three years of experience building and testing custom, complex high-precision electro-optical assemblies
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing processes and equipment, including arc fusion splicers, cleavers, and re-coaters
- Experience using optical sources, power meters, and optical spectrum analyzers to test optical components
- General understanding of how to follow detailed work instructions and record required information in Travelers for traceability
- Experience working in a Cleanroom environment (ISO Class 7) with proper safety precautions
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity or experience with schematic capture design tools
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and handle changing priorities
- Willingness to learn new tasks/skills
- Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen
- Hand soldering in compliance with J-STD-0001 space addendum
