Product Sustainability Engineer (m/f/d)

Job Summary
Define and maintain standard sustainability guidelines and checklists for each product development phase and project type. Conduct sustainability reviews of new and existing products across development phases, and embed sustainability requirements in engineering processes and tools. Advise engineering teams on material and design considerations by assessing CO2 footprint, environmental impact, recycled or bio-based content, regulatory and OEM compliance (e.g. REACH), and end-of-life aspects. Maintain sustainability-related material databases and support translation of OEM, customer, and regulatory requirements into practical engineering guidance. Prepare and deliver sustainability trainings for engineering teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration are essential to translate standards into engineer-friendly guidelines and to support informed, repeatable engineering decisions within the global product portfolio.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent)
- 5 years of experience in engineering, preferably 2-3 years in the field of sustainability requirements in Automotive
- Strong understanding of engineering design and materials
- Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented
- Affinity with PLM systems, data, and engineering tools
- Working knowledge of sustainability metrics (CO2 footprint, circularity, compliance)
