Job Summary
Product Service & Sustaining Engineer role focused on design-for-serviceability, reliability, and lifecycle cost reduction for Plug Power hydrogen infrastructure products. Responsibilities include developing service engineering deliverables for maintenance, commissioning, monitoring and diagnostics, driving corrective and preventive actions via 8D methodology, managing design changes and MOC processes, supporting customer escalations, coordinating with customers and field technicians during commissioning, providing technical training, and performing system-level diagnostics and reliability improvements. Requires multidisciplinary background in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering, experience with automation (PLCs, SCADA, DCS), process engineering knowledge for gas handling, familiarity with relevant codes and standards, travel to customer locations, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills. Exempt role with potential to work beyond standard hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, systems or controls engineering
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of related work experience
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and distributed control systems (DCS)
- Understanding of process engineering principles, particularly as applied to gas handling, fluid systems, and energy infrastructure
- Familiarity with industrial codes and standards (electrical, pressure systems, safety, and hazardous area classifications)
- Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position
- Proficiency in analyzing engineering data and troubleshooting operational performance
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, and other related project drawings
- Superior communication skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
- Excellent follow-through
- Must be driven and self-motivated
