Job Summary
Independently manage certification projects by evaluating products against national and international standards, ensuring compliance with safety requirements while meeting time and cost deadlines. Interpret standards and procedures to make technical decisions that maintain the integrity of global certification programs, including authorizing the application or removal of the CSA Mark. Review test data, compile evaluation records, and prepare certification reports and certificates of compliance for clients. Liaise with customers during the design stage to determine applicable requirements and test methods, providing technical briefings on new standards without divulging proprietary information. Witness test work at manufacturer facilities and guide lab technicians to ensure proper data collection. Manage project costs within budget, mentor junior staff, and maintain productivity in line with company expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 3 years of job related experience
- Certified Engineering Technologist
- Journeyman Electrician
- equivalent industry experience
- likely 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC Standards
- Variety of testing procedures
- Knowledge of CSA programs and services
- Demonstrate the ability to confidently and clearly communicate, explain findings, test results and technical decisions to others, including customers and other engineers
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
