Product Manager, Firewall

Job Summary

Design firewall, routing, and SD-WAN features including Site-to-Site VPN, ACLs, BGP, and DNS security by collaborating with firmware engineers to define tradeoffs and organize support requests. Triage bugs from the Quality Engineering team, join quarterly business reviews with customers, and plan the weekly roadmap with the cofounder. Work alongside backend, frontend, and model teams to ensure releases are stable and easy to deploy while maintaining alignment across technical and non-technical audiences. Prioritize customer outcomes in every decision within Meter's vertically integrated networking stack.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building products in the enterprise security or networking industry
  • Deep understanding of how IT administrators and network engineers use products
  • Knowledge of the difficulties managing firewall policies across thousands of devices in critical environments
  • Ability to absorb information quickly

  • Experience planning a weekly roadmap with a cofounder
  • Ability to override past experiences regarding architecture, feature velocity, team collaboration, and product quality
  • Ability to communicate with clarity across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to bring teams into alignment without needing formal authority
  • Experience shipping incrementally
  • Experience learning from imperfect v1s
  • Experience keeping a team pointed in the same direction even when the problem got messier than expected
  • Ability to see a customer's need and run toward it
  • Ability to collaborate with the backend team building APIs
  • Ability to collaborate with the frontend team building a Dashboard
  • Ability to collaborate with the models team building an autonomous model
  • Ability to learn how OS, firmware, data plane, control plane, backend/API, and Dashboard/UI/UX layers work within the first 12 months
  • Ability to collaborate with the QE team to ensure releases are exceptionally stable and easy to deploy
