Job Summary
Own the backlog as a dedicated product owner for a small engineering team, prioritizing development to ensure high-quality software delivery. Drive vision and roadmaps by collaborating with stakeholders to align execution with broader product strategy. Champion user experience through design sessions, mockups, UX reviews, and usability testing to guarantee success prior to release. Partner cross-functionally across engineering and business units to ensure smooth feature rollouts in an agile environment. This role embeds you directly within a tight-knit, high-velocity team at Appian's headquarters in McLean, Virginia, requiring full-time in-office presence. You will actively shape features on our global Enterprise-Grade Orchestration software with structured mentorship and autonomy.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a strong academic record
- Prior experience in a professional, academic, or technical setting (includes internships, research, capstones, or consistent part-time/full-time employment)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a professional environment
- Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, encompassing both the strategic development of AI-powered platform capabilities and the hands-on application of AI tools to accelerate daily workflows
- Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and running sprint ceremonies
- Previous professional work experience or multiple internships in a related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g. executive roles in student organizations, club leadership, or captaincy of team-based activities)
