Job Summary
Lead the Product Engineering Department by directing new product design, development, and continuous improvement of existing lines while ensuring quality, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory compliance. Manage engineering projects and resources to meet performance objectives, partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Materials departments to resolve technical challenges. Coach, mentor, and develop Product Engineers, Technicians, and Sales Technicians through performance management and succession planning. Champion Lean principles and data-driven decision-making to enhance reliability and safety. Participate in company-wide strategic planning to support organizational success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Minimum of seven years designing fabricated equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Prior supervisory experience
- Formal supervisory training
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical professionals while building an engaged, accountable team
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience designing fabricated products for manufacturing
- Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication
- Working knowledge of machining
- Working knowledge of welding
- Working knowledge of assembly
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Experience leading engineering projects from concept through production
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Knowledge of continuous improvement
- Knowledge of performance metrics
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including UL
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including NSF
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including DOE
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including EPA
- Familiarity with related industry standards
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments
