Job Summary
Product Engineer leads R&D trials and design/compliance activities for Power Cable products, partnering with Product Management, Operations, Engineering, and Quality to ensure functionality, compliance, and manufacturability. Responsibilities include technical reviews of customer specifications, maintaining engineering documentation (qualification reports, data sheets, performance models), leading plant-level R&D initiatives, generating trial plans and test protocols, supporting operations and procurement on process improvements and material qualifications, educating and assisting Commercial teams, delivering technical presentations, maintaining ERP BOMs/routers, analyzing ERP data for product decisions, and collaborating across cross-functional teams. Requires travel between MU facilities and to industry conferences/customers; 4-year engineering degree with 2–4 years in utility distribution/transmission systems; strong communication and Lean manufacturing knowledge; willingness to travel up to 15%.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year engineering degree required
- BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Two to four years of experience with utility distribution and transmission systems
- Experience in product design and manufacturing preferred
- Strong real-time problem-solving skills
- Effective communication across multiple platforms (in person, email, phone, video)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Basic project management experience
- Ability to support and lead project teams
- Ability to manage travel arrangements
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing core tools is a plus
- Must be willing and able to travel up to approximately 15% for business needs
