Job Summary
Product Engineer – Drives & Motors leads as the technical expert for a product line focused on AC/DC drives, motors, gearmotors, and soft starters. Responsible for evaluating and testing new automation products, supporting new product introductions, guiding products throughout their lifecycle, creating demonstration projects to showcase functionality in control systems, and defining hardware and software specifications. Collaborates cross-functionally with product management, suppliers, and internal teams; provides advanced technical support during normal business hours; leads lifecycle-improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce cost; and collaborates with global suppliers on technology and support capabilities. Requires 7+ years in industrial automation or controls, hands-on experience with drives/motors/motion control, and strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, encoders, and industrial communication protocols. Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience; willingness to grow expertise in automation and drive technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience)
- 7+ years of experience in the industrial automation or controls industry
- Hands-on experience with AC/DC drives, motors, or motion control systems
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, servos, or encoders
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols used in automation systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage projects independently and communicate effectively across teams
