Job Summary
Product Engineer for the Air-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers at the New Freedom, PA site. Serves as the primary technical interface between design engineering and global manufacturing partners, translating engineering intent into executable factory processes across multiple sites. Drives quality improvement and cost-reduction initiatives (8D/A3/DFMEA), leads Engineering Change Notices with impact analysis and scheduling, collaborates on DPFM/DFM enhancements, supports PPAP and supplier changes, and provides field and factory support to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and performance of high-volume chiller product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
- 5 years of experience in product engineering, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing engineering for complex mechanical equipment (HVAC/refrigeration/rotating machinery preferred)
- Working knowledge of vapor compression refrigeration systems and fundamental thermodynamics
- Experience executing engineering changes in a manufacturing environment (BOM management, drawing updates, cross-functional coordination via change control)
- Familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems for BOM management and engineering documentation
- Experience with quality problem-solving tools (8D, A3, DFMEA) and driving root-cause and permanent corrective actions
- Direct experience with air cooled centrifugal chiller products and factory-connected product engineering roles (DFM, field support)
- Familiarity with JCI governance processes (ECN, CCB, P-status, PLM/Windchill)
- Experience supporting PTS or field engineering including analysis of field failure data and field corrective actions
