Job Summary
Product Development Engineer for the Patient Specific Solutions team responsible for designing patient-specific implants and instruments for complex clinical cases. Role involves developing design solutions, creating CAD models and 3D drawings, generating technical documentation and BOMs, applying geometric tolerancing, performing engineering calculations, and ensuring regulatory, quality, and safety prerequisites. You will liaise with surgeons, OR and clinical staff, distributors, and the sales team to deliver timely design solutions, support manufacturing and subcontractors, and participate in risk assessments and surgical planning. The position is a 23-month fixed-term contractor role with hybrid work flexibility and potential travel; located in Carrigtwohill, Ireland. What you will do includes interacting with Design coordinators, Manufacturing Team Leaders, QA/RA, and customers to meet project goals, read clinical imaging, prepare instructions for patient-specific implants, and attend surgical/clinical cases as needed. Qualifications also cover adherence to regulatory procedures and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under tight deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in science or engineering (Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred)
- 0-2 years of product design experience in the medical device industry or equivalent
