Product Development Engineer

Job Summary

Design electromechanical products with a firm grasp of engineering principles including static analysis, optical modeling, and electrical theory. Review designs for soundness, build and test ion and plasma sources, and run processes like thin film deposition and etching. Analyze data, report progress to the R&D team, and use mathematical models for product development and customer applications. Manage projects to timelines and budgets while initiating design reviews and communicating with customers to resolve issues. Maintain professional knowledge through workshops and publications, and critically review company literature for technical accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Good manual dexterity
  • High level of math skills
  • BS degree in engineering with excellent math skills
  • Must demonstrate mechanical/technical ability
  • Mechanical design proficiency
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Understanding of advanced mathematics, print reading, and electrical theory
  • SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD proficiency
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Full-time on-site position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00pm

Desired Qualifications

  • Background in high vacuum preferred
  • General understanding of plasma physics, computers, and electronics
  • AutoCAD a plus
  • Programming/scripting a plus (especially MATLAB)
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Familiarity with ERP software
  • Good communication and willingness to work as a team
  • Customer focus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
